Working closely with the firm’s internal business development, promotional and marketing groups and supporting their activities, this person will be responsible for Business Development and Marketing activities. This position reports to the President and firm Principals.
Primary responsibilities will be:
Business Development and Business Development Support
Developing and maintaining relationships with prospective clients by attending industry events and conducting follow up. Coordinates MLA attendance and participation in regional and national conferences and business events. Maintains relationships with the local A/E/C community.
Marketing and Proposal Management
The marketing manager regularly collaborates with technical staff to develop high quality responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs). Responsibilities include reviewing and prioritizing opportunities to respond to RFPs, leading proposal kick-off meetings, establishing a strategy and timeline for RFP response, assembling proposal content, graphically designing submissions, writing proposal sections and editing copy developed by other staff.
Develop marketing materials such as statements of qualification and presentation materials. Responsibilities include routinely developing and updating “off the shelf” materials such as staff resumes and project descriptions and sheets, and assisting in the continued development and maintenance of a marketing library of materials
Write and edit internal and external marketing communications pieces such as news items, announcements, awards submissions and press releases. Regularly provides editorial support to technical staff in order to develop features for the MLA website.
Leads go/no go process with office proposals team. Develops response strategy and initiates kick-off meetings with proposal team
Manages proposal process from start to finish. Works alone or with staff to plan, write, design and produce all proposal and presentation materials for potential clients. Other staff members will be called upon to lead and develop proposals where teams/relationships are already in place or if they have strong experience with particular market sectors.
Maintains a library of RFP documentation and updates as needed.
Develops and maintains marketing materials, including resumes, project profiles and other standard materials.
Leads the development of interview presentation materials and may assist in coaching the team.
Creates and manages marketing deliverables as they relate to the firm’s various business practices.
Performs market research and analysis to assist in qualifying leads and evaluating potential clients.
Maintains and expands client database.
Maintains industry knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes; reviewing related publications; establishing networks.
Represents MLA at events/conferences to promote services.
Monitors external and internal environment for development of potential new market segments.
Reviews industry-related opportunities and routes appropriately; actively participates in go/no go decisions; maintains tracking system.
Provides support for business development activities by attending meetings and maintaining relationships through regular contact with clients
Monitor and update list of websites to be tracked for upcoming opportunities
Participates in office leadership teams
Qualifications include minimum 10 years in marketing/business development in the AEC industry and an education with a Bachelor’s degree.
