SMPS/LA Member Spotlight: Julie Jaime, Business Development Coordinator, Swinerton

Meet Julie Jaime business development coordinator at Swinerton and active member of the SMPS/LA membership committee.

Julie's path through the A/E/C industries has been all about growth. She started in heavy civil construction, supporting major infrastructure pursuits with clients like LA Metro, LAWA, and LADWP, before pivoting into vertical construction. Today she's helping grow the public civic market — shaping proposal strategy, building client relationships, and chasing down new opportunities.

The best advice she's gotten along the way? "If you're uncomfortable, it means you're growing. Keep going." There's no textbook for business development, and Julie learned to lean into the intimidating moments — the rooms full of strangers, the first partner meetings — until the hard things started to feel natural.

A big part of that growth has been community. Julie joined SMPS through the Membership Class of 2025 while looking for mentorship and a network in the industry, and she's stuck around to give back as part of the membership committee. As she puts it, it matters to be somewhere you feel seen, supported, and valued. 🧡
